Valentines Day 2016

Hallo again,

This happens to be one of the long pending posts that needed to be penned down.

2015 Valentines was a nice surprise for the Husband. He was very impressed and quite amused. I wanted to do the same for 2016 too. Quilling was not an option as I wasn’t keen with the repetitive form. It was that time of my life where Paper Cut art form was my love (not first though šŸ˜‰ ) Ā and so decided to go with it.

As with the Valentines Day theme, I decided to go with hearts. With the “How” sorted out as quickly as it appeared, I started with the measurements of the sheet I was planning to do it in. So far, I had done my paper cuts on a regular A4 size printer sheet. This time I decided to go with a thicker paper (I guess the paper was roughly 250gsm) and fair enough I got a A4 size sheet in it.

With the measurements in place, I started with the drawing, followed by gettingĀ the design on to a tracing sheet and getting it scanned in a flipped way (so that it Ā gets easier to cut from the reverse and not have any lines showing out – just in case). Once I had the print with me, I decided to go in for a test cut, to check for the correctness of the design and also check the time taken to finish the piece.

Meanwhile I sent the copy of it to my friend, to let her also do the test cut of the piece. Once it was done and I was satisfied with how it would turn out, I went ahead and got the drawing on to the main sheet. And started with my cut. It did not take the time I estimated it to actually take – it was waaaaay more. The reason – sheet was thicker and I had to put in a little more effort than usual to get the cut. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the whole stage of getting the design cut.

With a quote right below the design stating “Endless years of Love” and with a red coloured backing paper, the valentines gift was ready šŸ™‚ It was something I had not expected it to turn into.

Valentines Day Paper Cut

Must say, he loved it! And wondered how I could finish it off without him knowing anything about it (never under estimate the power of planning and working around husbands work timing).

Catch you all in the next post. Until then cheers!
